Greetings and salutations to all of the
White Mustang persuasion!
I bought my first white Mustang 364 days ago. Managed to get about 5,200 miles on it during that year, 2,700 of it to-and-from Shelby's Terlingua bash in September 2008. Twenty-seven miles per gallon at five-over posted speed limit (some places out there it's 85!) and a couple races on the
Terlingua International Airport, as well as quite a few sheriff-approved stretches at somewhat higher speeds.
Plenty of joy in this car: it's a good traveler, economical beyond expectations, fun to race, fun to show off; it looks, handles, sounds and smells good. What else could a full-time fun seeker ask for?
Performance-wise, the car is still essentially showroom stock, except:
· K&N CARB-exempt Cooler Air Intake (Typhoon)
· FRPP M-5230-GTA mufflers
· H&R 26mm rear stabilizer bar
· Shelby 4-nuts-per-mount double bar strut brace
· Best 1/8th mile time: 9.299 @ 78.94 followed by a
· New clutch at 5,100 miles
Comfort and joy items (among others, too many to mention):
· Shelby machined aluminum pedal covers (Shelby Performance Parts)
· GT/CS dead pedal (StangDeadPedals.com)
· Padded leather elbow rests (Moss Muscle)
· GT/CS build-data plaques for the dashboard and radiator cover (ccdjaco@cox.net)
I have three projects pending, aside from trying to have fun all the time:
1) Restore usage of Ford's original S197 white code (
HIGH Performance White)
2) Write down all the great memories I have acquired about motoring since 1939
3) I forget ...
Cheers!
PS: The second car in my sig pic is a Black GT/CS, bought on the 45th anniversary of Mustang's introduction (1964-04-17), just a couple days off the 40th anniversary of the original GT/CS introduction (1969-04-19).
Tres cool, and a bit faster than the coupe: 9.178 @ 78.95, with similar equipment and automatic transmission.
